I'm with Paul on the way to do it, enjoy, as you say you only live once0 -
Waste of money but it's your money and it sounds like you can afford it, so good luck to you. Besides I'm still tempted by the £50k plus Lexus 600h
What car is it anyway?0 -
I'm guessing it's a BMW x3 or possibly even x5?.....?
I agree with the posters who say enjoy your money on the things you like...you have the cash to pay for it and your happy in your house so it's not like you are scuppering any plans in the short term...it's not debt either so go for it. I would say use your savings though rather than take on a loan.
You didn't ask for a judgement call on whether it's value for money on not - which in my humble opinion is totally based on individual perception - what gives me great pleasure is worth the money but to others might not be - life is there to be enjoyed so take it with both hands and do exactly that.

This is the big difference between the OP and the normal posters we get here wanting to buy a £20k+ car.
Normally they've no savings and are lumbering themselves with a finance package that they can't afford just to have a flash car.0 -
you earn less than 35k you have a new mortgage and 40 k in savings. do yourself a favour don't buy it.
pay 20k into the mortgage. just in case you have not noticed were in a recession. blowing that kind of money is just plain dumb.0 -
As others have said use your savings as it will be much cheaper.
And enjoy the motor!!0 -
Yep, the OP clearly has means to finance it easier than your average working (or non working) person that has lots of debts and wants a new car, adding to existing debt or possibly putting that before things that should be prioritised, to keep up with the Joneses.
I'm very happy with my Mazda RX8. It's nice to have a sports car while I am youngish and before we have kids. In a few years time we will have a more sensible car. But I wanted to buy this while I still could and worked lots of overtime to do so. As others have noted, this website is about saving money in how you do things, not saving money by being ridiculously tight. The OP has a valid question in asking the cheapest way to get the bit they need. The answer is not to make snide comments about getting a cheaper car.0 -

It's not about you though. Your personal circumstances likely do not match the OP.0 -

OP, enjoy your car. Use your savings and pay it back in monthly instalments as you would a loan.
Ah yes, but mulberrys improve with age, not many fashion items do that!!!0 -

Besides, it amuses me immensely when all these big macho bikers assume I'm a pillion rider because I'm a (fairly small and slim) girl and then I wander over to this hulking great 45 degree v-twin engined beauty and start her up... :rotfl:
Not worthy...I've never ridden a motorbike but id love to - for the time being I shall content myself with my own Honda - a wee Jazz..............:D :rotfl:Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .
