How do I pay for my new car?

I think you're mad. But I'm currently waltzing around Europe indulging Mrs o4u rather expensively too.
Given that you have somewhere (presumably nice) to live already, would have a contingency fund left over, interest rates involved and your ability to replace the capital , I'd use the savings.0 -
op use your savings...
enjoy the car...credit card bill. £0.00
overdraft £0.00
Help from the state £0.000 -
Cut the guy some slack, people. He only asked the best way of financing his new car - not whether it was a good idea!! God, you lot love to criticise! He clearly has a shrewd head, plenty of savings and wants to buy an expensive car. Good luck to him. You and I might not, but then, we're all different, are we not?0

I could carry my purse around in a tesco carrier but I use a Mulberry Bayswater. My choice, my money.
OP, enjoy your car. Use your savings and pay it back in monthly instalments as you would a loan.0 -
You could equally argue that hubby and I aren't being very money saving by owning between us a car, a "gas guzzling" 4x4 and two large engined cruisers. However the 4x4 is a kitted off roader and actually does go off road regularly, my car is a super economic tax free diesel and the bikes are just so much fun (and one of which will suffer minimal depreciation as its a custom Harley Davidson). We don't (and won't) have children to pay for and we work hard for our money so why not? Trust me there is nothing better than buzzing down an open road in the New Forest on a sunny day on 2 wheels

OP, enjoy your car. It sounds like you've worked hard for it and I don't think there is anything wrong with treating yourself. I totally understand it if vehicles are your thing and why should you be criticised for wanting to see the fruits of your labour crystallised into something you can actually enjoy. You're clearly money savvy anyway or you wouldn't have that sort of cash to splash so take the deal which works out best for you.
Out of pure nosiness, what sort of car is is?I don't like chick flicks, I get grazed knuckles doing my own car repairs and I ride a massive cruiser motorbike. To many this makes me a bloke in disguise but to my husband this makes me perfect

I did. As did many others.Dovah_diva wrote: »Cut the guy some slack, people0 -
Enjoy your car - I have a lovely car too and those who say a cheap car does the same as an expensive car dont know what they are talking about - I drive long distances and love my car and all its gadgets and safety features.0

If I had the money - your damn right I'd be sending it too

On this occasion I'd use the savings - if they're not currently needed.
I'm desperate to know what kind of car it is too - and can I have a shot?
Mrs PBikerchick I'd love a ride on a Harley too - they are the coolest looking bikes, saw loads in Canada and was so tempted to ask for a wee shot.Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .

Well over a years salary on a car  you must be mental
I bet you'd get on well with my BIL - he is mad on nice cars but I cannot see a bigger waste of money!
Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

Sadly I cannot claim to be the Harley owner - it belongs to Mr P. It is a beautiful machine though, and pretty much his pride and joy. Mine is a pretty rare 1100cc Honda Shadow ACE (never available in this country) so it's not too far behind in the cool stakes
Besides, it amuses me immensely when all these big macho bikers assume I'm a pillion rider because I'm a (fairly small and slim) girl and then I wander over to this hulking great 45 degree v-twin engined beauty and start her up... :rotfl:I don't like chick flicks, I get grazed knuckles doing my own car repairs and I ride a massive cruiser motorbike.
