How to proceed

Hi all,

Just looking for some advice on how we should proceed regarding an issue we have with the property we are hoping to purchase.

Had our offer accepted last Saturday, mortgage is progressing and appointed a solicitor who is progressing with the paperwork.

We are having a full structural survey done (not booked yet).

The road is on a hill and therefore each house is slightly higher than the next, with about half a meter drop on one side of the land.

The neighbour, who is up higher than us, has a garage which is made out of plastic sheeting. The side facing the property we want to purchase, drops all the way down over the the half meter drop, touching the ground on the property we want to purchase.

We want to make sure that:
1) This is actually on the properties land, and if it is;
2) We want it removed/sorted before we complete

How would you suggest we proceed with this? Ask the surveyor to confirm if it is over the boundary and then say to the EA we would like this sorted before completion?

    Would you get into a boundary dispute with your neighbor when you was selling your house?
    I know i would not, as it needs to be declared , i think your seller might tell you to get lost...
    But....How much of the property does this thing sit on..If it is inches i would leave it.. I have just given away 2 feet of my land because i am so nice,(Reality is i have just lumped someone with trees that they now have to maintain)...
    Is it a deal breaker?
    It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
    Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
    If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
    If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
    If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
