leaving engines running.....why?

Ok, lovely sunny day and I have the windows open listening to the birdsong, when someone has pulled up outside in a minibus, and has been sat there now for about half an hour with their loud rattly diesel engine running and its bl**dy annoying. Why do people do this?
Before anyone asks, I have no problem with people waiting or parking there. I also understand if its cold they want to keep the heater going, or if hot, the aircon while they wait. this guy, however had both his windows wide open, stereo not on or anything else that would require hime to leave his engine running.
May sound petty, but my road is fairly near the high street and so we regularly get people waiting to pick people up and leaving their engines running continuously for long periods of time. It really spoils the peace.
I feel like yelling out of the window, 'for gods sake, turn the bl**dy engine off!!!!!!!!!'

I enjoy listening to birdsong and I like fresh air............so I can empathise with your predicament.

Probably because the person in the drivers seat doesn't own the vehicle and doesn't pay for the fuel.Why do they do it?

Having spent the last two hours cleaning up the garden furniture to eat dinner outside, some !!!!!! has just started playing drum and bass at an unreasonable volume. I feel your pain.
