My thoughts are with you, sorry to hear of your loss. This is really strange though, in a good way. Maybe its a sign that you can both support each other through all of this. I hope you have both in each other found friends for life. x
I hope so too, I promised the lady I would keep in touch with her daughter. So sad as she only lost her dad last year, she is so young to lose both parents.
I had a great deal of support from the lady as would often chat to her while my mum was asleep and she would tell me how she coped looking after her parents. And had many deep and meaningful chats with her daughter about how we both felt. I hope I was some kind of support.
They loved hearing about my shopping exploits which made them smile especially when I got all excited about whether I was going to get the M & S red wine that glitched and it cheered them up when I took them a bottle in.
I hope we do keep in touch, it will be nice to meet up without the hospital/hospice as the background.0 -

Well I have to say the gammon cooked in coke yesterday was absolutely sublime. Pudding was popping candy choccy which we are all addicted to except for DD1 who hates it! Perfect Sunday evening rounded off by 2 episode of Heartbeat from my birthday present boxset. :j
Good Afternoon All
I also cooked gammon in coke yesterday , it was awesome. Had my Mum and Grandma round for dinner, as well as my family. Everyone said it was delicious. Thank you so much to the person who shared the coke secret, with finishing it off in the oven with mustard and honey. a huge hit in our house.:)
Thoughts are with you today Logie on the anniversary of your Dads passing.
Tinyshoes you sound like you have both got a new friend for life, it was meant to be your beloved Mums being in the hospice together.
I mentioned the other day that I picked up quite a few £10 off £25 minimum spend Matalan shop vouchers with a unique code on each, to be used on your first online shop. Click and collect free to the store .
I was told that I cannot give the codes out on this thread. Please could anyone tell me if there is a place I can give them to others as I don,t want them to go to waste.
Thank you.:)0 -

Just wanted to share something/get if off my chest.
When mum was in hospice in the opposite bed, there was another lady with an only daughter too, much younger than my mum. We got to know each other very well over the 6 weeks she was there, looking after each other mums when either one of us was not there.
This lady was moved back to the main hospital for treatment after a second opinion and then went back home for a while and we kept in contact. Sadly just before my mum passed away she returned to hospital and eventually the hospice and passed away couple weeks ago.
I went to the funeral this morning and her daughter read exactly the same piece that I read at my mum's funeral that I found in my mum's safe, total coincidence. Such sad circumstances to have met in but such lovely people to have shared part of my life with, we are going to keep in touch. :A
((Huggs)) sorry to hear this. Hopefully you will have a friend for life from this, and will be nice to share stories later on in life.0 -
