One of my courgettes I have in the greenhouse had a lovely flower open yesterday morning. Apparently you can stuff the flowers with ricotta or something and then fry them, never tried though.

Have planted up all my tomato plants and cues now, this year I'm growing my favourite Alicante, Belle (beefsteak), Gourmet and an authentic Italian Variety - I can't remember the name but it seems to be doing well :rotfl:. Last year I sowed over 100 seeds and they all blooming germinated! I was run ragged potting them all up, my mum shoved the surplus outside her house and the mums on the way to school were very grateful for free plants. Cut right back this year as we hope to get away camping for a few long weekends and it's not fair to expect DD2 to do all the watering, though she munches her away through a couple of mini cues a day! The only plant I bought and didn't grow from seed was a Jamie Oliver pepper plant from Homebase reduced from £7 to £1 as it needed a tidy up and a water. Have moved it to a larger pot and it's thriving :D.

Meant to say before, the Saturday before bank hols I went to our local Homebase to buy some compost. There was a lovely young lad there who was putting split bags of compost and farmyard manure into big clear bags. Me being nosey asked what he was doing with them, he said he was reducing them and if I was interested I could have them all for £1 each. I bought the lot, there was 7 of them. Enough to fill all my tubs with new compost and more to put round my runners. Good stuff too like the Miracle Grow one with water retaining crystals. As it was the 15% off weekend I got them for 85p each! Sweet as :T. Might be worth checking with your local Homebases to see if they do the same :D

I actually made the courgette omelette today, the recipte is in the Waitrose magazine for this week/month and it turned out gorgeous!

I also did a carrot and courgette savoury pancake recipe which is also divine. Mmmmm. I would love to stuff some more of them down my gob but it's after 9pm and my new healthy eating diet started today. What to do? :o:o:o

I must agree that on their own, they are a bit frightful. But if you jazz it up with some spice or eggs or whatever, it's not too bad. Plus it's a vege and it's meant to be good for you. :A

I don't see the point in wasting water on growing something I'm never going to eat. That's why I've only got chillies, cues and toms in the greenhouse so far

Next year will be different as I'll have more time to plan :)
