Can't get Broadband - my line's too long

Just an update from me.
Finally found that Virgin Broadband service my postcode and phone number and was activated last Wednesday. I've had no problems - Broadband is working fine, ABOVE the promised 512K speed.
I'm v happy with this, but am puzzled as to why everyone else - BT, UKonline, Tiscali- were adamant that it wouldn't work on my line.
Bizarre, but sorted in the end
