o2 disconnection problems
Options
Hi
I wrote to o2 on the 2nd April giving them 30 days notice to cancel my contract with them, as an after thought i also asked for my pac code.
I received a letter back dated 13th April with my pac code and also saying my 30 days notice is from the 13th April.
Fair enough, no probs, but i didnt use my pac code and i didnt think any more about it, until i received a bill for £30 for the whole month. I queried this and was told my account is not cancelled as i never used my pac code.
I never knew this
i have just had an e-mail from them saying my contract will now finish on the 23rd June.
Basically, they are trying to get £60 out of me for a service i am not using (I have a new contract which i`m using with a different company)
Surely, my letter, which i sent recorded delivery and i have a copy here, is plain enough for them to understand that i asked for 30 days notice back in April, regardless of me asking for my pac code?
Please, where do i stand on this? as i was annoyed last night i e-mailed them saying they can take me to court as i am not paying any more after the 13th May, They havent replied yet
Thanks

I am afraid they are right with this regard, when you request a PAC code, the disconnection is put into effect as soon as the PAC code is used.
If the PAC code is not used, then the network assumes you would still like to stay with them.
You have to either give them 30 days notice to terminate or ask for PAC code, the latter of which you have to use in order to effect termination.
I don't think not paying up would be a good idea, as it would affect your credit history, but to peruse the matter by either speaking to a senior or writing a formal letter to the Complaints department detailing the situation?0 -
thanks for that
but how would that stand up in court? i never new this was the case about the pac code
Surely a letter that plainly states 30 days notice is what they should go on?0 -

And as dagger_meerkat has already said, if the PAC is not used then the contract will continue.
Personally I would pay up and put it down to experience although a well worded complaint may yield a goodwill gesture from O2.0 -
thanks
has anybody got an e-mail address for someone high up at o2?0 -

I am assuming your service provider is O2 itself. If it is O2 CPW I wouldn't even bother pursuing it!0 -
Thank you mobile mole
have just e-mailed, let`s see what happens.
no, this contract is nothing to do with o2 cpw, it was originally over 2 years ago with mobileshop.
I will let you know how i get on0 -
Did you get a letter from O2 confirming your PAC? I had one recently and while I can't find it to check for certain, I'm sure it explained that you had to use the PAC otherwise your account would continue. (There was a letter with questions & answers on the reverse.)0

The letter clearly outlines the consequnces of not using the PAC!!
I would be very surprised if you get anything from O2, best thing to do would be pay up and learn an expensive lesson from it.
