cost of a taxi in London?

Dd has just booked to a concert in London with 3 friends.
According to journey planner it is an 18 minute walk from the venue to the station but as the concert will finish late would prefer her to get a Taxi to the train station, so I would like to know how much she would be expected to pay without being ripped off! (A similar journey at home would be around £3.00)

18 minutes walking would be about 6-7 minutes by taxi unless they travel too fast (they won't) - I'd say around £5-6, maybe less.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

    If it finishes after 10pm then it'll be around £8 - £11

If there are thousands of people it might be a problem finding an empty cab so I would go prepared to walk and hope for the best!

Try Adission Lee on 02073878888 they are normally about 25% cheaper than a black cab and very efficient.

What's the concert venue? If it's a large one, there will be hundreds / thousands of people heading back to the tube station, so there will be no problems.

They will struggle to get a taxi / minicab (licensed) after a big event.

The event is at the Carling acadamy Islington, only 800 max apparently!

Carling Academy Islington! Jouney Planner has it's knickers in a twist!

It's about 200 metres from Angel Tube Station! And it's on Upper Street, one of busiest streets, hundreds of pubs, very busy, and very, very safe!

If she tried to get a taxi to the station she'd be laughed at!

    Worry not!

According to journey planner the tube stops at 7.35pm!

Try to avoid addisson lee.We stopped using them at work when we audited the taxi bills only to discover they arrived 15mins earlier than called every time and charged us for the waiting time.

You can get direct buses to most places from Agel (Euston, Piccadilly Circus etc)

From what I recall, the academy lets out fairly early and you should be out a good couple of hours before the tube closes. There may be works on the line, but that tends to be at the weekend and they'll know on the way there...:)

The station i'm refering to is Kings Cross, not The Angel tube station so I can't see why she would be laughed at getting a Taxi!
