Bought Camcorder, Can't Get Spare Battery

I bought a camcorder from Argos 3 weeks ago for my holiday next week. I intended to get a spare battery as there was only a 1.5 hour useage time on it but Toshiba dont seem to supply spares any more. I ordered one from a seller on Amazon Marketplace but it is slightly larger than the existing one and wont fit.
My worry is now that I have a camcorder that I cant get a spare battery for and once the current battery starts to lose charging capabilities then I will have a £100 doorstop.
Do I have any rights to take this back for a refund? (it is excluded from Argos 30 day guarantee). Obviosuly, had I known I couldn't get a spare before I wouldn't have bought this particular model.

Unless Argos specifically said you could get spares, you have no rights to change your mind. You could ask nicely at Argos for an exchange though, but they don't have to do this.
Next time - do your research first!0 -
How is this a consumer rights issue?
No, you can't. Research as above, then buy.0 -
Is it totally unreasonable for me to expect that spares would be readily available for a current model without researching?
And losing the attitude wouldn't be a bad thing mattyprice.0 -

Until somebody asks they do not know?
Otherwise what point does this forum serve?perfectposter wrote:I bought a product, it did not work, I invoked my rights under SOGA, the court found in my favour, I chased the money, the seller paid. I am now happy.
We'd have 1000s of single post threads to ^ effect?0 -

With all due respect, just because an item is available in store doesn't make it a 'current' model at all.
Cameras, in particular, can be available through retail outfits long after the manufacturers have actually discontinued them or upgraded the design. Entertainment systems (radios, i pod docks etc) are similarly vulnerable.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

In this case it certainly seems to be still current.0 -

The fact that the manufacturer no longer supplies the spares suggests otherwise!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Then they need to remove the item from their website as that certainly suggests it is a current model to me,

That's bad (from them I mean, not you).
Have you asked Argos for a refund because, of course, when you bought it you were assured you would be able to buy a spare battery;)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
