    good info on the co-op.

I've now set up two direct debits, just a matter of finding an offer worthy of somebody who deposits £650 a month lol.

    500 wages, 150 housing benefit.

Anyone have any idea if any accounts offer a reward for switching to them manually or if they let you choose which direct debits you want to move over? I can't be bothered to move all of them and then move back, but ill do it if there's only one or two I need to move :p
This is why it's a good idea to keep a 'donor' account or two ticking over. A secondary account with your main banking provider is ideal for this.

For example, the Co-op deal requires 2 x DDs and/or SOs. So just set up 2 x SOs to a couple of your other (saving or current) accounts and switch these to the Co-op. No need to mess around with DDs then. :)

Sadly, one of my 'donor' acccounts is a Co-op account (retained after I'd bagged a previous £100 incentive), so I can't bag this deal. Maybe I should close it and just keep NatWest and HSBC as my 'donor' accounts since neither appear to be running incentive schemes these days?

The Halifax offer includes their current account which has no minimum payin, just requires the switch and DDs,

If you do switch to them you should apply for the Reward account.
Their Reward account requires £750 per month which is achievable; simply open an internet savings account.

As others have said you can 'manufacture' DDs by opening savings accounts etc

Yeah thats pretty much it, a quick buck, like I say I'm struggling bigtime atm.

Unless I've misread the Halifax offer, its only available to those switching to one of their premium current accounts (the name escapes me) that require at least £1000 per month to be deposited into the account, plus at least 2 direct debits need to be transferred to the new account on opening. I currently earn just under £500 per month and have 0 direct debit payments coming out of my Barclays account.

I'll go read up on Santander 123..

They don't give it on the cash account - but you can still help yourself to free dog biscuits and lollipops, listen to loud music in their stores and do a number 2 in their loo
