The sell in May challenge

Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HL)
988.43p at close on May 24
HL is highly profitable at present, making 0.6% net commission on assets under management (AUM). However, this commission is hidden within fund management charges (typically 1.5%), so most customers are unaware of the pricing situation.
As a result of the Retail Distribution Review (RDR), HL will be forced to introduce an explicit charge. It appears that most competitors who are introducing percentage-based charges will be in the 0.25%-0.35% range. If HL opts for a 0.6% charge, it will be highly uncompetitive and will lose customers (and therefore AUM), but if it opts for a lower % charge, it will become less profitable (and loss-making at 0.28% or lower).
Either way, HL will become less profitable and its share price will drop, which will be further amplified by a de-rating of the company's P/E ratio (currently something like 35x).0 -
I'll go for RBS, for all the obvious reasons, in the belief that they aren't fully priced in yet. 327p at close on Friday 24th (already down 3% on the day - rats)."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0

Ocado - Currently 264p0

Apple, currently $445.15. I don't think that the new "flat" interface in ios7 will go down well. The stock is well down in recent months so this could go very wrong. High risk.0

I've made a quick Google spreadsheet to show the current standings. It *should* update automatically

What's the betting that our "portfolio" beats the FTSE All Share?I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
