Hi Jamie,
http://www.lookers.co.uk/vauxhall/used-cars/115274/vauxhall-corsa
this is it, its changed to under offer but luckily I printed a copy out!
fuming, i can understand being charged on a brand new car that you select from the factory, but its a pre reg, i can hardly deselect metallic paint!Dec 2012:
Natwest Overdraft: £1600; Natwest Loan: £1000; Credit Card: £500; Hire Purchase: £2500
April 2013:
Natwest Overdraft: £0 - cancelled!; Natwest Loan: £0 - paid off!; Credit Card: £0 - paid off!; Hire Purchase: £1200 - getting there!0 -
I'm seeing more and more of this from dealers, trying it on after the deal is agreed on. I had it done to me few weeks back, walked away from the deal but haven't seen anything as nice since grrr.
Btw the car looks lovely. Stick by your guns and pay the advertised price, they will be getting a big kick back off the finance deal anyway.0 -
Just noticed it's listed under used cars (as it's pre-reg), how on earth can they charge for metallic paint on a technically used car.0

its beyond me
as someone said, what else am i going to get charged for next?
im not stupid, ive had a car on finance before and i understand there are arrangement fees etc
but i think because im a 21 year old female driving down from essex they think i will just nod and agree
the guy just called and said if i was buying it from the factory it would be an extra
i told him i was buying a technically used car
if they wanted an additional £500 then advertise it as £11,000
its not even like it said "from"
i said that if he didnt want to remove the charge completely then i wanted my £250 deposit back and i would quite happily give my money to another Vauxhall along with the salesman's commission from my finance and that in future they need to learn how to advertise cars correctly.
he is going back to his manager.
i cant see them budging but im not paying it.Dec 2012:

mwahah got my own way!
£500 fee taken off
apparently when you enquire they are supposed to say "ah yes the corsa in black, well actually thats an extra £500 charge"
but my salesman forgot.
they werent happy about it but who cares.Dec 2012:

Charging extra onto a sticker price for metallic paint on a used car is a new one on me. Bizarre. Just as well you picked up on it, I bet a few people wouldn't!0

whats worrying is he said this is the usual practice
they advertise the black one at £10,477 but when you phone and enquire they say that the red, white and yellow are that price
the black is £500 extra.
its just my salesman got sidelined
it doesnt do much to restore my very little faith in dealers that i currently have.Dec 2012:

That makes even less sense from them as only red is the free colour when you order a new Corsa. Good luck tomorrow, you can't miss Lookers when you get off the M6, just go past the Lego land that is Star City and it's just off the island.0 -
