Car finance help - dealer trying it on or?

ust after some advice

Im due to pick a new car up tomorrow have put a £250 deposit down on it. Its in Birmingham (from Essex) and is a brand new car. Im driving down tomorrow to get it.

The guy quoted me 3.9% flat interest which I know equates to about 8% APR give or take the odd 0.1 percent.

I need finance on £7819. I've had the monthly payments through at £166.69 over 5 years which is interest of about £2197. Forgive me if ive done this wrong but this is 10.7 APR (i've used an online calculator)

Is he trying it on or is this right?

I can get a bank loan at 6% so im inclined to turn this down and ask for my deposit back based on the fact that I was originally quoted 3.9% flat.

What do you think I should do? He is due to call me back in a second so help!!

Doesn't add up. Have they sneaked in GAP and paint protection?

Is this the corsa you were after?

Its a pre reg one, i think it was on one of the links that someone gave me (was it you jamie?) its alot cheaper.

No I made him remove the paint protection etc, the £166.49 per month he is quoting me is without it

I cant get my head around it as to me it isnt adding up

    Car value = £10,500
Outstanding finance to be added = £1,344
Licence plate retention fee = £105

    Deposit = £250
    P/X = £3,900 value agreed

I'm getting that I need finance on £7,800 at 8% apr my payments should be £158 per month and I pay £1689 finance

Am i working this out right???

Yes it was me, Lookers if I remember correctly.

It doesn't add up right, get the salesman to email you a breakdown showing the interest rate and all other options.

There could be an arrangement fee but that wouldn't be that high, unless they are charging you extra for metallic paint.

its a metallic paint but its included in the price as far as im aware as im not ordering it, the car is advertised at £10,477 and no mention of extra fees for metallic paint so i will argue my case on this.

And im happy for an arrangement fee to be added in but not nearly £600!!!

I've called the salesman and emailed him asking for some clarity. he hasnt called me back or returned my emails yet.

I told them to either remove this charge or to leave the car and give me my deposit back!!

they should really say if they want to charge you and not advertise the car falsely!

Were you expecting metallic paint to be free?

If you feel they were falsely advertising, then you should report them, but perhaps did the advert say 'from £10,500' or have some small print exclusions?

Granted, they should have broken the price out clearly for you before this stage.

this is the advert, it said next to it £10,500

if they wanted an extra £500 then fair play i get it, but at least put that on there. it clearly said £10,500 as the price. not from, there is no small print.
or at least advertise it at £11,000

i get when ordering a new car you pay for metallic paint but this is a pre reg so i cant exactly select the option.

    You're totally right on this.

If you are buying this specific car then they shouldnt be charging you 'extra' for something thats on the car already. Are they going to come back and ask 'extra' for the alloy wheels??

I'd be furious. Phone and ask to speak to the sales manager and ask why they have a specific price listed for that car in that colour and why you have been charged extra?

ive told my sales guy if he doesnt remove the charge i dont want the car and I will go to a different Vauxhall and give that branch the sale

I'm already travelling to Birmingham from Essex so its not the end of the world. He is speaking to the manager and I said that if he wanted to charge me for it then fair play, but put that in the advert and dont spring it on me the day before i pick it up

Luckily I printed out the advert as evidence!! I am fuming and will be even more fuming if they dont give my holding deposit back
