Its pretty easy to buy a domain and basic hosting pack, knock up a site (even Word can save an html page), ftp it up - job done. Millions of us do it for free.

Of course the true mark of a professional is in how they conduct themselves, being aggressive, abusive, insulting and arrogant is unprofessional and I wouldn't hire anyone like this, too much hassle!

    Wow contradict yourself much?

"I do it myself for free, but wouldn't hire someone as it's too much hassle" or translated "I'm too tight to spend money and like that other moron above I'm going to insult someone's profession."

I think the proof is really in the pudding here, all you "Web design and development is easy" people please post up your "really easy to make" sites and let's have a look at them.

I'm guessing you are losing a shedload or potential business due to your cheap amateur sites and poor SEO practices.

You do know people visit cheap/free sites and decide not to use that company as their online experience was so poor.

Suppose that's something else that you "pros" overlook, things like UI, UX, conversions, bounce rates, mobile support.

Lemme guess Weebly does that all for you right? :rotfl:

What some of you guys are forgetting is that we are dispensing free professional advice here. Be grateful! :T

How do you know who is a moron? a web god and a qualified psychologist too? I am impressed....

The reason I wouldn't hire someone like you is you are not listening to the job requirements for a start. basic website and blog if you have forgotten.

Secondly, if as a client I wanted an aspect of my website a particular way and you thought you knew better (inevitably) you would become confrontation and take to forums moaning I was a moron.

I am willing to make allowances for you though, 14 is a difficult age.

A Psychologist wouldn't class someone a moron, so please stop trying to be funny, it's really not working.

Sorry if I come across as 14, I'm trying to "dumb down" so people like you understand what I'm talking about. It's always a risk but I'm willing to take it just so you "get it" :)

She said "I want to try and set up my own website/blog." It doesn't matter if you are making something small or something large if you are un-skilled and think you know the lot (bit like you sillygoose) it's never going to be achievable.

Two professions now insulted by an idiot with no idea of what he is talking about.

You know what's better than ME linking my portfolio? YOU linking your nasty self made amateur laughable effort at a website. Please I would love to see it, if it's that easy and you don't need a professional to build a site you will have no problem in sharing your link. It will be good for that "SEO Nonsense" too ;)

Keep digging your hole, I haven't insulted anyone, I've simply stated Facts.

it's a fact that most out of the box blogging software out there is set up for seo out of the box, you don't need to pay someone to do this, it's basic stuff.

You may like to peddle the snake oil that is seo, but really, it is a load of nonsense, that a whole industry is built around, there is nothing about it that is complicated, there is nothing about it that some novice can't learn.

Again, I ask you to provide your credentials and show us all these fabulous sites that you have built from the ground up.

Doesn't cheap sarcasm count as insulting anymore? ;)

Digging my hole? What are you talking about? You are talking about things that fall outside of your knowledge.

BTW I don't do SEO so I don't "peddle snake oil that is seo."

Good effort but you still are clueless.

You show me your wonder site and I will list you to my portfolio, my awards the whole lot.
