Maybe some mini sausage rolls, with cake and biscuits as others suggest, and if they don't eat them they are easily stored back in the fridge.0

Go back and ask if they would like to stay for lunch. That way you will find out if they plan to stay.
Turning up at 11:30 and saying they are meeting family later could mean meeting up for supper.0 -
