Paypal And Virtual Address

Hi. Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place.

I am starting a small business and want to use a virtual address to keep my home address private (for privacy and security, nothing else).

My question is, my paypal account is registered to me at my home address and is linked to my bank account which is also linked to my home address. As it stands any paypal invoices would have my home address printed on them so they wouldn't match my business address. Is there a way to have your business address printed on the paypal invoices even if you keep your your paypal account linked to your normal bank account? I hope this makes sense!

Thanks for any help.

Always a good sign (not) of a trustworthy business if they use one or more made up addresses.

I am a trustworthy business (or will be) but I don't want my home address all over the internet. Most businesses use a business address and not their home address and a virtual address is a real address that you rent. I am working entirely within the law and just want to know if I can use my business address with Paypal even if the bank account it is linked to is registered to my home address.

You need to keep your business accounts separate from your personal accounts. It'll be a lot easier to do it now rather than later.

Business bank account registered to a business address. Paypal Merchant account linked to business bank account and business address. Paypal is free for small businesses, and the bank account will be free for something like 18 months. After that time you decide whether to continue or roll up the business.

May be I am just getting old-fashioned, but I wouldn't want to deal with a business with a rented address. Far too many scamsters about that are using virtual addresses. Good luck, nonetheless.

Well as it stands I have registered everything to my home address but I am concerned about security. If everything is legit I don't see the harm in renting a space for post etc and using that address for business purposes. My sister had a stalker at one point which involved the police so I am very weary of weirdos getting hold of my personal details. That is my only reason for wanting an address seperate to my home address. I am not trying to con anyone.

I know what you mean, but it offers security for the business as well. I know the company I worked for was targeted several times, so we dropped the public sales counter, moved address, and went mail order only. The address on the website is nothing like our actual address, and different again to the return address on the packaging.

I know exactly what you mean. When ebay was new, I remember selling stuff and people sent cheques. Some people would turn up with the cash and wanting the goods there and then (without prior arrangement), and one in particular said they'd not received the parcel and wanted a full refund there and then. Now I never include my home address in ebay or Paypal transactions unless they are a known registered business.

I would use a RM PO BOX but they are way over priced!

I used a virtual London address at one point. Same again - honest but did not want my address shown.

Business was also registered to that address - so never had a problem.

Remember that all someone has to do is ask the virtual address company and they must provide your actual address.

Virtual addresses are there to give an air of importance/ formality because you have a Mayfair address or your based in a business park rather than residential area but provide no actual privacy or security. There are a couple of exceptions to this such as if you are in the jewellery trade but you must register with the appropriate authorities to get this exception

As to your original question, create a new business paypal account with your new address and link it to the business's bank account but again do this for the right reasons as you'll get no privacy
