Tablet - Internet Plan on Pay as you Go
Hi all,
hope some her is in the know.
I am with three.co.uk on their 3Pay plan for £10 (150MB, 600 SMS, 5000 3 to 3 min for 45 days, where is the WePay tarrif I loved that one
I have purchased SIM free Nokia N8 from Nokia Store when it come out and was happy with it, but wanted to read books on something bigger so decided to purchase last year when it come out Galaxy Note 10.1 3G (3G so I can use internet in it while out and about and make - not often/receive calls and texts all in one device).
Now until last year in November my 3Pay SIM worked in the tablet and with the £5/ month Internet add on with 2GB was perfect match.
Then 3 imposed restrictions in November 2012 and until now I could do without internet in the tablet (150 MB does not work and everything gets blocked, but I can still use calls / texts).
I have just tried to purchase Mobile Broadband add-on for £10/month but internet still does not work in my tablet which is strange as their Broadband - Pay As You Go + 1 costs £10.49
Now I do not want to waist time calling India as I never got any help from them, so hope some will be able to give me some advice ..
Does anyone know about pay as you go tariff / operator SIM card that I could use in my tablet for internet (and does not block the VoIP port UDP 5060) on and off basis maybe per day charge and still make use of the calls/texts function my tablet provides?
I am happy to take my number to another network, but just looking on the O2 website as I have "Your Country" SIM and The Works Web say that it can not be used in another device ..............(for example a mobile phone sim only tariff sim is intended for use in a mobile phone not a modem. This includes putting your sim into a modem, modem usage or internet tethering on your device unless stated) .... so I do not know if that would work with my tablet.
hope some her is in the know.

Three DID block the sims that were intended for their phone service from being put into tablet devices. and any internet use is for in phone use only.
You may want to look at the sims intended for data use, Three do them, you can buy then on Ebay for £5 for a months use, at the end of the month either pay a tenner a month to top up or simply throw that card away and put another in.
However most operators block VOIP, its against their terms of use as lets face it it's taking away one of their major revenue streams. Skype is usually the only VOIP app that will work.0 -
I was using a 3 sim-only on a 1-month contract in my Nexus 7 (£12.99/month for unlimited data and some minutes and texts I never used) but they blocked that after about 3 months as it's intended for use in a phone.
So I bought a PAYG data SIM preloaded with 3Gb which has to be used or lost within 3 months. I paid £20 but I've since seen them on Amazon for £11 so my next one will come from there when my 3 months (or 3Gb) has run out.0 -
I went to the three store and find them increasingly unhelpful there in helping solve customer problems "this is a customer services issue, you have to ring them" attitude.
So I have phoned CS and had the £10 refunded as since the change in November 2012 that option should no be there but ...........it is still available to purchase...
Found that it is cheaper and better value to get their 1 Month Data Card Plan MBB with 1GB for £7.50/month.
I get few days extra for free as they have a billing cycles, can use Voice/SMS on my tablet as well. (You have to give them 30 days notice straight a way, so you do not get limbered with 2 months contract and they will not let you go easy when you call their customer service)
The call was 40 minutes log I had to listen to some hard selling and misinformation as well which is not the first time that their Customer Services tried on me. (my contract will be 2 months anyway I have been told

If you look on Amazon, you can find Three data sims which allow 3Gb to be used over 3 months. They sell for around £11. When they expire (either by date or data used), buy another one and pop that in instead - its cheaper than topping it up.
But I've ditched even that, and have moved to ovivo. The advertising is not an issue, and the cost is ... free! (for 500Mb/month)0 -
New deal on Three as of today, 1p per MB simple pay as you go no expiry.
