Down to Old Style Moneysaving is my advice! it isn't War time recipes and Make do and Mend! lots of good advice about menu planning and shopping on a budget! I cant believe how much you spend..........I know its only me and OH but, I spend about £220pm and think that's extravagant! I CAN do it on half that but we can afford it and that's the difference!0

I buy 4-5 days stuff at a time, means all my fresh veg/salad/fruit gets used up, I don't plan too far in advance and then not fancy whatever it is I want.
I buy monthly things like cereal/tins/non perishables, but most fresh stuff gets bought in my trips every 4-5 days or so.
I have really cut my food shop down doing it this way. I do take advantage of offers on meat etc though and freeze, and then that way some times when my shop day rolls around I have the main ingredients for a meal and I just have to buy salad or veg to go with.
I try to frequent the butchers and greengrocers more than supermarkets too. Also Poundstretchers/Farmfoods/Iceland for toilet rolls, washing powder etc.
My butchers does 500g of lean mince for £2.20. Same thing in Tesco is around the £3 mark and who knows if you're even getting beef/pork that you want :eek:The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I bought 6 loo rolls for a quid in poundland yesterday, its well worth looking in for bits and pieces. Also B and M, wilkinsons, home bargains, poundworld, if you have any of them near you you can shop around and save some money.
Also if you have a freezer, batch cook and freeze for a later date, I actually think once you get in the habit of home cooking, you dont rely on takeaways that much. I used to get one once a week about a year and a half ago, 2 or 3 times a year now if Im lucky, its just nicer when you make a meal yourself I think.0 -
