Looking for Nokia 6233 to replace an ageing Nokia 3310. Ideally PAYGO (as our aim was to move to TESCO Mobile Network), but may consider a 'pay monthly' option if achievable for £15-£20 per month (12 months)..

Sounds good, but don't like 'slider' phones...

No 6288 is not an upgraded 6233. It's an upgraded 6280.

Anywhay pick one up from ebay for about £80.

Unless your after the 3G function of the 6233, I wouldn't suggest you go for it.

I would recommend either a 6230i, there were some going for about £50 and they can normally unlocked with the help of someone from the unlocking thread.

Otherwise, the 6300 is simple and nice looking. You can get a £20 trade in from the o2 shop against a trade in or the Carphone warehouse is dong them for about £100 with credit.

    Any reason why not 6233??

If youre going to take heed of the above post. Go for a 6300. 6230i is ancient! it's just not worth it.

Although I prefer and use Symbian phones (wi fi, Sat Nav, etc) I also have a 6233 I got for free from "3" with a cheapo 18 month contract. I have to agree with rash.m2k that it is leagues ahead of a 6230i. Its a decent little phone with stereo speakers, A2DP bluetooth stereo, a good FM radio, a nice screen, great camera (albeit no flash) with VGA videos, nice keyboard and plenty of other features in a compact shell. Stick Opera on it with "3"s X-Series and it makes a good web browser.

Interesting comments from both - thanks... Unfortunately, I've just been told the purchase of a new washing machine takes priority :-(

FWIW, the phone is all about feel, quality and ease of use. My wife spent the afternoon trying all three (6230i, 6300 and 6233) and decided on the 6233. So perhaps I'll start reviewing again next month after I've got the expense of the washing machine out of the way

Agree that the 6233 is a better phone than the 6230i. I replaced my 6230i with a 6233 & the phone looks & sounds great, excellent menus & the camera & video quality is superb.

Agreed! I have a Nokia 6233 and it is easily the best phone I have had. You can upgrade the memory by adding a micro sd card and use it as mp3 player, radio, camera, video, alarm clock, reminder, notepad, Bluetooth, voice memos, etc. You will never need anything else ever again coz it is all in this phone. Awesome! Get one!
