This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

¡Hola!

Thought I would start you off today, as for some reason I am awake. Had a lovely meal out last night with some friends who are returning to the UK today. It was a 3 course meal with bread, aioli, tapas, glass of wine/beer/sangria and coffee for 14€. I had grilled prawns, followed by steak with roquefort sauce, which I asked for without chips :A, so they gave me a veg instead :T, but then spoilt it by having a Creme Brulee :o, DH had Calamares au Roma, followed by Swordfish. Maybe eating that bit later is the cause of me being awake.

Will put some washing on today, and try to get back to the cushion covers, which have taken a back seat due to me getting paperwork ready for the meeting on Monday.

B-B I fear you may be right about the consequences of the terrible act yesterday.

  :hello: to all our old OS friends lurking out there, together with all newbies, and anyone else reading, pop in and say hello.

((hugs)), spoons, hi-5's, positive vibes all round. Take care everyone and have a lovely Thursday. DG

Good Morning DG and all who follow, thank you all for your kind wishes yesterday.I was thinking about it afterwards, so lucky that they didn't just go off to bed and leave it on, it just doesn't bear thinking about, DD has said that no appliance will be left on unless someone is around whether its the DW or the WM .Having seen what the DW looks like I make her right its awful the front of the machine at the top where the control panel was had just totally melted with the heat and its metal as well !!!

My son-in-law has been on to the company to see what their comments are about it.The machine is only about 4 years old and was their top-of-the-range one as its used daily with their big family. The new Kenwood is installed and looks very nice.We managed to get it with a £100.00 discount and collected it from Currys and it was loaded into the back of my boot (I have a seven seater MPV) it cost around £230.00.Hopefully this one will be better.Machines are great all the time they are working, but a pain in the rear when you have to replace them.Still the insurance have been brilliant and very helpful at a very stressful time.

Today the weather is looking grim and I think that we're in for a downpour.I have been awake since 5.00 as my joints are really achy when the weather is damp.B/Brain I feel for you as I had a toenail removed several years ago and it was extremely painful and I had to wear open toed sandles for about a month as I couldn't get my shoe on.You can hardly believe that a small thing like a toenail could hurt so much ,but apparently there are a lot of nerve endings there.
I finished my Child 44 book and it was really good I will try to get the rest in the series.
So now its breakfast shower and school run.Ben has finished his exams now thank goodness and is off until 10th June on study leave
DGD Holly texted me to say the course she has applied for at Uni 'Early Learners Teacher Status' she has been accepted for, and she is really pleased so its not all doom and gloom in the family at the moment I am hoping today I may hear from my OH long lost cousin as she should receive my letter this morning .Fingers crossed she replys.

Sad to hear of another poor young soldier losing his life and this was on his home ground as well. What is the world coming to life is so precious and wonderful, tomorrow I go to see my oncology consultant and hopefully get the 5-year-all clear from cancer as my remission is up.I value life so much having had a brush with the grim reaper, whereas that poor young man had his cut short for no reason at all.His poor family must be devastated

Right time I got a wriggle on
have a good day everyone and take care

  • Good morning everyone :)

Weather was beautiful when I got from work last night, bright and sunny with a good breeze so out goes a basket of washing which blew but did not completely dry. Off I go to check the weather forecast which looked fine overnight and clear today so I left it out. Bet you can guess what happened next! Middle of the night I am woken up by a huge peal of thunder and torrential rain. Looks like it will be staying out all day and being rinsed and spun again tonight.

Dinner will be made with lamb mince and lentils but not quite sure what yet. Bean and tuna salads for lunch.

More ebaying tonight, have sold a few bits and pieces this week to start saving our emergency fund again. Have £400 to pay out for tyres next week but the money is put aside for that, then we just have to pray car passes MOT. There is no plan B!

Am extremely concerned about yesterday's news and what the repercussions may be. Of course the tragedy of the loss of a young person's life will be overshadowed by the media hype. I do not understand how the French president and a local MP could identify the victim as a soldier but our government can't. I know it makes me sound old but I really don't know what our world is becoming and it truly frightens me.

Time to dash for work so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    morning all:j:j

Chilly here this morning But no frost, Not seen a local frost here now for quite a few weeks.:j:j

Quite day planned here again for me. Normal tidying Jobs to be done. And not much more. Don't need to think about dinner tonight as My wife is at choir so My dinner will be Pizza out of a Box.
The Girls are being picked up from school by my Mum, She will take them to dancing and then give them there tea at hers.

Thursday today, Need to watch out for that black dog on my Back. Don't know why but Thursdays always seem to get me down.

I had my appointment yesterday at the doctors, It went well. He told me that he sent a letter off to the hospital last week about me and how I was doing and to update them on my systems.

He also has told me that he will phone them up on Tuesday next week after the bank Holiday. To see were they are at with me and to try and move them along a bit and get me In. As he thinks I need doing now sooner, Than later before I start to become ill, ill as In needing to be rushed In. better that I walk In and have a planned OP and then taken In flat on my back!

Not sure if it will be of any help, But its something more, And at least He is willying to try and have a go at finding out whats going on. When I phone up all I get Is that There is still no planned date. But I'm close to the top. The Trouble is with that, That if there is an ermanency That person gets bumped up the list and you get moved down. Which is right, You do need to treat the sickest first, Its just a waiting game really.

Well I hope that you all have a great day.

    Enjoy yourself s:j:j

I'm Under the pain clinic too, Have been since 2002.

Thay tried Me with amytriptilene, quite a few years ago now.

I was only on it for 3 days and I felt Like I was dieing! No joking

As for CBT Iv never been offered It.
If they did I don't know how Id feel about doing it.
In one way I don't think its for me.
But In another way, I do have an open mind about things and I am willing to try things, And at the end of the day if anything helps then that's only a good thing.

So if I ever did get offered it I think id have to have a good think about it.

halight thanks , I miss her dreadfully although I am getting used to it now and we talk / text all the time. She will be home for 4 months at the end of June :j
Sorry to hear your not feeling so well , I hope that black dog keeps well away x

JO I would never go out and leave an appliance like that on either , I had a tumble drier that started smoking , would definitely had set alight if I hadn't been there  it's tempting to switch them on and leave them as we all lead such busy lives but not worth the risk, so glad everyone was ok x

    Good morning.

Yesterday in Woolwich was terrible. You couldn't make something that awful up. Unfortunately people seem to be making it about race/religion. They need to remember that the attackers were two individuals who made their own choices to commit such an abhorrent act. I saw some terribly racist and xenophobic comments on Facebook, from people who I thought better of. It made me so sad, they couldn't see the irony.

    Sorry, rant over.

I'm going to the tip today, doing some housework, and having a relax. :rotfl:I've got to take DS1 to the orthodontist for a check up later, he's got a chemistry exam today too.

halight hopefully the GP pushing will do the trick.

 that's a lot of money to fork out for tyres , I don't know what a cam belt is but I hope it isn't as much as you think x
