Friends of mine have used Foxtons several times over the last few years and are always singing their praises for what it's worth.

sorry to say, but I've had nothing but bad experiences with Foxtons - although admittedly I was buying and not selling a flat.

They refused to listen to what I wanted, kept trying to persuade me that I really did want a (very badly done) victorian conversion flat, when I had specified purpose built. I specified 3 beds, they were adamant that I only needed 2.
They also managed to give me completely different details on the same property - 1 person told me it's been on the market for ages because it had been tied up in probate, someone else told me that a sale fell through, and a 3rd person said it had been tied up as the owners were divorcing. Didn't exactly fill me with confidence.
Now I know that all estate agents will try various tricks, as they're trying to get you to buy one of the properties on their books, but it was infuriating.

I also found them to be extremely pushy when it came to mortgages....considering I was at the time a mortgage broker and I had a colleague of mine sort out my mortgage, I took offence when they said they wouldn't be able to show me any properties until I'd seen one of their advisors. Funnily enough, I told them where they could stick their mortgage, and purchased a (much cheaper) flat in the area I wanted with another agency :D
Lead me not into temptation - I can find it perfectly well all by myself :D

3% isnt unusual for multi -agency , im not too sure why people think it is

You can easily get 1% or less, but thats sole.

3% is certainly the going rate for multi.

So OP are you now clear on what is giong on?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

ridiculous! 1% sole for 2-4 weeks. NO luck

    1% next agency 2-4 weeks.

    No luck

1 % next ea Sole 2-4 weeks. Why anyone would pay a scumbag ea 3% is beyond me.

Lynz if im not wrong your an ea???? no wonder you have no problem with 3% or you wouldn't get paid!

Not any more im not ;)

Im serious, 3% for multi is not unusual, albeit the most ive ever head of in a multi was 3.5%

I would agree, Id never go multi personally, doing the same routine you suggest, first try one at 1% then so on. I used housenetwork for 500 quid ;) suited me very well indeed. If i didnt get any joy I probably would have considered foxtons ( youd use them to sell butnever buy through them, foxtons themselves have said this!)
