Question re Lidl Wild Bird Seed
I bought a 1kg bag of Pepito feed mix the other day from Lidl as it looked to have a good variety of seeds in there.
However, once I poured some out there seems to be a lot of additional bits, ie twigs and broken nut shells etc.
Are these in there to bulk up the bag or are they meant to be for the birds ie bits of twigs for their nests etc (although they aren't very big bits)?
Ta.

i would take it back and get a refund. POUndland have quite good birdseed authenticated by the NAtional trust. there is too much twiggery in my compost that i buy , this time at Aldi."if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

I make my own bird mix and fat balls in winter using ingredients advised on the rspb website. The birds love it.
I am dubious of cheap bird seed and I would imagine that bulking extras might be added.0 -

I can't really as I have put some of it out for the birds.
I will just pick the twigs out and not bother buying it again.

Well I do usually but as saw this which looks good I thought I would give it a try.
Won't bother again.

Hi everyone,
I always get my seed from Twootz.com, their all season fruit feast is FAB! We have Jays, Robins, Blue Tits, Sparrows and all kinds of wonderful birds in our garden eating this seed. Also, delivery is free and their prices are a lot cheaper than in shops I've found - thought it might be worth me letting all you wonderful people know:T:rotfl:0 -
Well, I put some out today on the new bird feeding unit which has only been out two days, we had some visitors, a collared dove, a coal tit and I caught site of a magpie sitting on the fence so not sure if he had been for a feed or not.0

For comparison.........Jusr bought 2x7kg's bags of mixed bird seed local supplier. £7.50 total.delivered. So.... 53p kg. 20kg quantity would be 45p kg. BandM in their 12kg bags...39p kg. I always look out to see if they have sweetcorn in them.0

The Lidl seed is mostly full of one seed that the birds seem to avoid, so for me I would rather pay a £1 or so more for better seed.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0

Is £2.59 a kilo expensive for sunflower hearts? (Wilkinsons). Does anyone know if they are cheaper elsewhere on the high street? I don't want to buy massive bags and want to avoid delivery charges.0
