How much to ring/ring from a hospital phone?

Hi all, my husband's in an NHS hospital for a week 50 miles away (Nottingham) and I can't visit, so we're having many telephone conversations. Due to Vodafone's incompetence, he couldn't take out a "Freedom Freebie" to make cheap calls to me at home, so we're spending .25p a minute (around £9 a day).
Does anyone know how much it is to ring and ring from a hospital bedside phone? I know it used to be extortionate, but don't know if they've changed it. He's not having much luck trying to find out his end.
Thanks for any help.

I believe Hospedia supply that hospital. Ringing in will cost you an arm and a leg.Ringing out to a landline varies. Easiest way to find out is to call them free from bed console and ask them.
If your on Voda as well as him. Add Vodafone Family.http://www.vodafone.co.uk/discover-vodafone/extras/vodafone-family/index.htm?cid=rdr-5339-010 -
Brilliant - thanks! I'll try the Vodafone route and hope they don't mess this up as well.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0

Just had a call from hubbie ... for info. in case anyone's in a similar situation:
He's just bought a £10 deal for 3 days which enables him to call me from his bedside 'phone at any time with no call-time restriction and also watch a selection of films/TV. No idea when he's due to come out, so this is a good option for us
Thanks again for the help jhp xWins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
That's 100 quid per month...Businesses using 084, 087 or 09 numbers will soon need to display details of the inbuilt Service Charge under Ofcom's "unbundled tariffs" plans.
Businesses using 084, 087 or 09 numbers for customer service, complaints, renewals, etc, will need to swap to an 01, 02, 03 or 080 number before the Consumer Rights Directive comes into effect June 2014.0 -
Why not buy one of those cheapo O2 phones with a tenner of credit and a ton of free minutes, you can pick these up for about £20 (which includes the obligatory £10 credit that has to be put on em)? get one to him if you can, ergo free calls for a month for approx £30 in total + £20 worth of extra calls after that0

I'd still ask about Vodafone Family0

Hi MimiJane,
While it's good to see that you've been able to get something sorted out with the hospital, I'm happy to get the problem with the Freebee looked into.
As such, once he's returned home, could you ask your husband to email me with his details via the link in our profile here?
All he needs to do is copy and paste the link into his web browser and it'll take him to the Contact us form on our website. To make sure it reaches me could he also quote the code WRT135 - MSE in the subject line?
Once sent he'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. So I can make sure I've got it could you update the thread with this and I'll get back to him as soon as possible?
Kind regards,
Lee

Thanks Lee - I appreciate the reply.
However, we've just about had our fill of Vodafone over the last week - the "standard" replies, constantly being referred to the T&C's (which did not answer my questions) and having to find others in a similar situation to answer my queries. On top of that, the Vodafone website is incredibly slow or I get frequent messages that "maintenance is being carried out" - and that's trying in 3 browsers. Add to that the expensive .25p calls (which we could not initially get round) and the fact that the reception in this area is not at all good and I think we have good reason for going elsewhere. Nothing should be this much hassle, especially at such a stressful time!
Thanks again though - I wish the Vodafone advisors had your attitude but, sorry, you won't change our minds.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
You're welcome MimiJane.
Although it's a shame to see that you'll be looking elsewhere for service I can appreciate the reasons for this.
If you change your mind you know where I am.
