Keep my phone number?

Options
I'm wondering if I get a new phone through one of the internet shops, is there any way I can keep my number? I've called and asked but I've been told that it's not possible. So it seems that the advatage of cheapness has to be balanced against the inconvenience of changing your phone number.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me

You can if you change networks by getting a PAC from your existing network.
  • Hi coolpaprika, can you confirm if you are trying to transfer your number over to a different network or the same network?

I work for e2save.com and I know most networks will allow you to do this as long as you are not porting, for example, from orange to orange. We always advised you call your old network to obtain a Pac code from them then when you have received this call the seller you are going through. With e2save we only process ports on behalf of o2 cpw and so would be able to do this for you, but it you went to another network we could only advise you call the network provider once you have received the handset and the line has been connected - they should then be able to process this for you. Once this has been processed it will take 7-10 days to go across.

If you would like to provide me with more informtion ill have a better look into this for you and hopefully will be able to help you get the number transferred.

Thanks for that advice. I've been with t mobile for ages and have a monthly discount already. That's secure and as I've been reading about how tricky it can be getting cash back I think I'll stick with T mobile and my discount, just change tarriff. I'm not so bothered about a new phone, but I think I'm entitled to one as well as keeping the discount. Sometimes it's better the devil you know...............................

  • The only problem is, it is very unlikely t mobile with allow you to port your number over to a new contract with them. I think the only way they will be able to do this for you is by doing an upgrade and the deals tend not to be as good. If you give them a call directly, im sure they will be able to provide you with all the information you need and hopefully will be able to help you port your number over to a new contract. Let me know how it goes. Rebecca
