Thanks for all the advice, but isn't there a way I can just put in my exact email address and state that I only want emails let in that are addressed as such.
Yes, that's what my post (#9) was about...

If you use your "mickeymouse@..." address as the "type in your email address" it should do the trick (did for me anyway).

When I followed the procedure you suggested, it seemed that I had to type in every address that I was willing to let send me mail rather than just being able to stipulate my exact email address for receiving. Am I being totally thick and missing something? (This is quite possible!!)

    Aaaaagh, rats, sorry Melbury....

Second line down should read "Where the TO line contains people".... (4th checkbox down in the top box, not the first one). So once you've done the NOT thing (options), it works as if "to" isn't myname@myisp, bin it.

I'll edit my post so's it doesn't confure everyone else - thanks.

Thanks very much for your help, have done all of that now and set up a spam folder.

Does this mean that the offending emails will still come in to my email address, but will be diverted straight into the spam folder?

Will be interesting to see what happens.

    Thanks again.

Personally I prefer not to have to download them at all. Don't want to waste my time downloading stuff that goes straight to junk.

Has anyone got this to work in Outlook, rather than Outlook Express?

OMG - don't know what I have done, I really did follow intructions very carefully, but on going back into Outlook Express my inbox has completely emptied and I can't find any of the emails!!!

What have I done? Please advise.

Also, when I clicked on the message rules tab, the rule I set up seems to have vanished even thought I clicked apply.

I am obviously doing something very wrong here!

Is the new Spam folder still there? Just wondering if you have different email or XP logins and are looking at the account you didn't change?

Any rule you set up won't do anything with old messages unless you use the "Apply now" button (should have moved thm if you did this). Maybe you did the Apply now, then hit Cancel instead of Ok to get out of the Rules..?

Try setting up the rule again, but just click the Ok buttons to get back to the Inbox. If your messages are now in "Spam", you can drag any you want to keep back into the Inbox.

Thanks, I have found all my inbox contents in the new spam folder, so have moved them back.

Note that you can show the "To" in your Inbox listing.

If you currently have the Inbox listing on screen, from the menu choose View/Columns.. - this brings up a list of all columns you can show in the "list view". Tick the "To" box near the bottom, click Ok, and you'll be able to see who each email was addressed to (you'll probably have to scroll right).
