My credit report

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but i couldn't locate the right thread.

I have just completed my first (free) credit report using top cashback as recommended by Martin. I have just received the report without a credit score, don't know if this is normal but it is a little disappointing. While reading my report it shows that I have defaulted on a T-mobile account and owe them the princely sum of £159, at the time I started a new contract with Orange who gave me the money to buy the rest of my contract out, which I did, however, if they had made an attempt to access the money from my account they would have been successful as there was always enough to cover such a bill. Nothing has been brought to my attention by my bank, how can I fix this?

Thanks in advance, Jim.

It's good that you have not received any score because it's meaningless and often misleading. Most lenders use raw data from CRAs and there own scoring systems.

    What exactly have you done?

Do you mean a Direct Debit?

If it was your fault, you cannot. However, it's not clear yet whose fault it was.

    1. Damn I paid £6 to find out my score.

    2. I was pretty clear about what I had done (used the money to pay the remainder of the contract), can you rephrase the question?

    3. Yes I mean DD.

    4. There was no attempt by T-mobile to retrieve money from my account, surely a default notice would have been issued to me informing me there were insufficient funds etc.

What have you done to have the contract terminated? Have you received the final bill?

Also, when you say "there was always enough to cover" does this literally mean 'always'? Have you never cancelled the DD?

I think your first port of call would be to contact t mobile and raise a query:

I probably have the bill somewhere (moved house), am I stuck without it? I paid the final bill over the phone.

I would say 99% of the time yes there was enough money but surely it would show in my statement if someone had been trying to access funds on my account and got rejected due to lack of funds.

There is no longer a record of T-mobile on my account so I'm assuming that yes I have at some point cancelled it.

You have not answered how you cancelled the contract.
Any chance you have not done this actually and the contract was going on with the DD cancelled?

That said, I agree that instead of guessing it's better just to contact T-mobile and ask for their version of events.

I paid the final bill over the phone. I can't see the DD continuing, I'm very concious of the funds in my account plus I use internet banking which allows me to sign in and monitor activity.

Yeah, I'm on night shift tonight so I will do it in the morning.
