IE 10 installed without permission - what's it like?

I always get WIN7 to request permission to install
IE10 is ok as a back-up. Never liked IE for the volume of cookies and the feel of it!
Kasperksy and IE10 aren't bosom buddies though!
Prefer Firefox but it can be a pain sometimes0 -
The only real problem with IE10, compared to the last few versions of IE, is compatability issues with websites designed by idiots.
If you get a website telling you you need IE5 or higher, or similar stupidity, it's because whoever wrote it only bothers to check the first digit of the version number and so thinks you're using IE1.
The worst offender for doing this is.... Microsoft! They do it in Outlook Web Access 2003 and Project Web Access 2003.
You could always uninstall IE10 (which will revert you back to IE8) if it really bothers you, but if you insist on sticking with IE it's probably best to upgrade.0 -
Edit: On IE8 I could click on my favourites list, and right click one of the entries and open it in a separate tab. Can anyone tell me where this is in IE10 because it's a really useful function.
If this is a problem for you, then your work flow is wrong. Why don't you open a new (blank) tab first (Ctrl+T in most browsers) and open your bookmark from there.
You can let Firefox search through your bookmarks from the address bar. Just start typing part of the URL or tags you assigned to the bookmark and Firefox will show you all matching bookmarks quickly. It's much quicker than searching through the bookmarks menu.0 -
But ... do you actually review the list of updates before clicking the button?
This didn't give me any list of updates - usually it does, but not this time. It just shut down to do the updates without any warning.
Thanks for all the comments after my rant
I have uninstalled IE10 because I was unable to access online learning I was due to start this evening. It's gone back to IE 8 for now and I will decide at a later point what to do.
Chrome is a pernicious toolbar and browser that tries to install itself unless you spot the cunningly disguised default "install" buttons that you have to untick to prevent installation.
I really am not as paranoid and anti-big company as this, I've just had a bad 24 hours!!0
