EE offer to upgrade Orange contract to 4G

I know very little about technology. I use an iPad & old pc on my home BT broadband and an iPhone 5 on orange.
I had a call today from EE offering 4G on my existing orange contract. They said it wouldn't cost me extra & they'd send me a new sim card - the only difference to me (apart from, presumably, faster surfing on my phone) would be that I'd be billed by EE rather than Orange in future.
I'm confused, as I thought Orange had 'become' EE ... (That's the provider that shows beside the signal strength on my phone.)
Is there any disadvantage to taking up their offer?
I'd really appreciate some simple, straightforward advice from someone who understands the technology as I don't want to make a silly move when I don't have to.
Thanks!

How much are you paying now?
What do you get now? (mins/texts/data)
What do you get with EE4G? Did they say the minutes/texts are the same?
Did they tell you if they're signing you up to an 18, 21 or 24 month contract?
Did they mention any early upgrade fee?
    Any other info they said?

There have been cases of mis-selling in the past so i'd be grateful if you could answer these questions.

EE4G is a new network that supplies faster download speeds for internet to your phone if you're in a 4G area. So basically internet is faster. For new customers it's quite expensive as it's a new and exclusive technology. For existing customers there are some ok deals to be had/

I've been through the upgrade from orange to EE.

Make sure you know what your current data allowance is and what the data allowance would be for the same price point on EE4G.

Make sure they do a coverage check. If you live out with one of the UK's larger cities you may have to wait a long time for 4G at home.

If you switch to EE4G you will start a NEW 24 month contract. There shouldn't be an upgrade fee.

Also, did you get your iphone from a 3rd party like phones4u? There have been problems with some 3rd party iPhones needing to be unlocked to work on 4g causing a serious headache for the consumer.

As for the benefits of 4G. Think of anything you do on your phone that requires an Internet connection and imagine it happening almost instantly. Very, very fast.
