Edit: Reason I bumped this old thread was this: http://citywire.co.uk/wealth-manager...an-arm/a770196

So my initial OP below is no longer relevant until the above kicks in.

Would now be a good time to sell?

With the market overheating and the 100% increase in value?

Just curious - will they continue to perform at such an amazing rate? They seem to have exponentially grown in value - which is nice. :T

Better now then a year ago, but best of all who knows. Generally SL is a solid stock, the type that can left in a drawer but that doesnt mean it cant half in price
If you need the money in the next five years, general advice is to take that money when its profitable because obviously you dont want to be forced to sell at the bottom

If you sell half, you could diversify and you'll have a free ride on the shares you still hold. Ultimately its up to.

Thank goodness the Scots seen sense and passed that national IQ test last week.

God knows what would have happened to the share values - and this is certainly the icing on the cake:

I might sell after this windfall goes through.

Good grief I am so glad I held on to them.

Dont sell yet. as you will know that the canada branch is sold. all the share holders will get 73p up the first Q next year.
I think the shares will go up 500p then.
What happens if you push this button?

If you're constantly worrying whether it's the right time to hold or sell then maybe better to sell and put money into a tracker fund.

Far less volatile than individual shares and can just sit back and let compounding do its work.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Well in the last 2 weeks they dropped 20p which is a sickener - however - with the divvy windfall and the possibility of them hitting £5 at some point - defintootly worth holding the shares at the moment to ensure you are holding folding next year. :rotfl:
