need a new line and broadband - advice needed

I live on a houseboat and have recently moved into a marina that allows phone lines to be installed.

I signed up to TalkTalk and they completely messed me about. I asked for a new line to be fitted and instead they installed my services onto another lady's boat behind me - disconnecting her and ceasing her phone number  after using all of my months 300 minutes on my mobile phone calling their "customer services", I decided to just cancel as the staff were unable to help me and kept requesting that I just sign up again (for it to happen again and waste another 3 weeks - no thank you!!).

Anyway, I see there has been a lot of acquisitions in ADSL broadband of late. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced supplier that will give a decent service? preferably one where the customer service team can speak English, treat you like a human and will install a phone line when requested.

Many thanks for any advice :)

I changed to plusnet they do adsl too, customer service is simply amazing, free phone uk call centre.
  • I'd also recommend plusnet. Very competitive on price and their service is great. Very friendly and helpful customer service, open 24hr's and on the plus side it's a UK call center.

I think I signed my parents up to PlusNet years ago and I remember them being good at the time.

Little pricier than TalkTalk but seemly worth the extra expense. There is £28 quidco, does anyone know of any other offers/discount codes?

£80.20 cashback with topcashback looks much better!

That will cover the phone line installation :)

The actual line install is done by BT OR regardless of which provider you use.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

macman, agreed. However, its the provider who assigns the line to be installed. With TalkTalk, they put my services onto my neighbors line and employed BT OR to completely disconnect the line to my neighbors property and install the line to my property, leaving my neighbour with nothing.

So we requested that TalKTalk reinstate my neighbours services and install a new line (link to the exchange) for me. Might as well have spoken to a brick wall for 6hours. Their customer services is a joke.
