Can I do anything about land sale?

I have a plot of land which sits on the town boundary meaning nothing can be built behind the land. It is a building plot and I'm in the final stages of selling it but now find the next door neighbour has purchased the strip of land behind three of the properties (including my land) to potentially use as his garden. Should I have been approached by the sellers of this land and given an option to safeguard a potential garden for any property I build? Those people living in actual houses on the street were asked by the landowners if they wished to purchase the land and had any objections to this guy buying it but I wasn't. I do have a registration at the Land Registry so they know I own the building plot. Really worried now as the sale will fall through and the price of the building plot will reduce significantly. Any advice appreciated.

Doubt there is any obligation to notify anyone of an offer to sell. If this truly is agricultural land then he will not be allowed to make it into a garden. He could keep the land as agricultural and keep animals on it or cut hay.
there are lots of cases where land taken as garden has had enforcement to return to agricultural.0 -
The landowners can sell the land to whoever they want without notifying anyone. Presumably they only asked about objections out of courtesy.
It is likely that planning permission will be required if the neighbour is planning to change the land from agricultural to garden use, but even if you objected and planning permission was refused, this wouldn't help your case in safegaurding the land for your own use as garden.0
