Used to worry a lot and be a bit silly and ring them up even just after I sent in the ib50 forms. Foolish thing to do looking back as a few time I reckon it all led to me being sent for a medical. One time they said we will transfer you to the medical service and the guy there said "how long is it since you had a medical" and guess what I got a letter a week or so later and it was dated the same day as I had spoken to them.

Now I am being migrated to ESA a worrying time too, but what will be will be. I am not going to phone them up, have sent in esa50 filled out as best I could, will wait for atos to contact me for medical, if I fail the wca of course I will appeal.

My logic now is why phone them up to get a result quicker because if you are going to be turned down the longer it takes them to reach a decision the more benefit you are going to get in meantime.

And if it goes against you just appeal. I know I will worry like everyone but as everyone knows with the wca even though you may not be able to work they could find you fit, and nothing we can do about it only go through the appeal process.

The people have made the rules, atos carry them out, Its a total lottery.

    Best of luck

Just to let folks know that I heard on 10th June so didn't have to wait too long. I also got my backdated money into my account the same day. They have placed me into the WRAG. Although I am probably not going to appeal the group they have put me into is it still worth asking them for the report of my assessment?

I had same, put in WRAG but am going to ask for a copy of the report as I like to know what info is being held on file about me and should be an interesting read.

Definitely worth getting the ESA85 that ATOS filled out. It may be that you spot something wrong and should appeal to go into the Support group. The least it will tell you is what you scored points on and how many.

Thanks for the advice. How do I get the report? Do I phone them or do I have to write to them? And do I ask for it from ATOS or DWP?

Also, do I still have to send in fit notes now I have been placed in WRAG? It didn't mention anything about fit notes on the letter.

Nope, you no longer need to go to the doctor for 'fit' notes, you are now out of the 'assessment' phase and will receive more money as a result. I would however phone the DWP and ask for a "Statement of Reasons". Just simply ask for that, it won't affect your claim and also be insistent on this, many DWP staff seemingly do not understand this basic request. You are entitled to it. This will show you how and where you scored the points which you can of course use should you choose to challenge it.
  • I was changed to ESA from Incapacity benefit about 2 months ago.I received the IB50,filled it in and returned if with lots of results,gp letter, occupational therapy letters and within 2 weeks of sending it back i received a letter saying I had been changed over.Guess i was one of the lucky ones without having to wait forever.

Whenever I have requested copies of the medical assessment report it has never shown the actual points - where exactly is that?

Less than two weeks to go now until next ATOS medical:eek:
