I had my WCA at home today. The guy didn't really ask me much at all, told me to try not to worry too much, then left after 10 minutes.

What's my next step? When should I hear their decision?

That's it, they will just write to you with their decision & then you'll either be in one of the two ESA groups or have to claim JSA. I've heard it can take a while to hear but idk i'm still waiting for my medical appointment

Sounds like they may pop you straight into the Support Group - but with ESA there are never any guarantees. Hope you hear fairly soon and that it is good news.

Any idea how long it usually takes to hear about the decision?

I had my WCA on April 24th ( not at home though) and up till now I have still not heard anything but when my WCA was almost done I asked the Lady who examined me when I would hear anything and she said that it seems to be anything from 3- 10 weeks .

it can/will take months and months unfortunatley.mine did.
this 13 weeks they talk of is total garbage. you can wait a long, long time just for you decision let alone the outlandish claims they make that you will be placed into a group by week 13 lol.

Currently, it seems that the only relvance of the 13 weeks is that, for new claims, money will be backdated to the start of week 14 if the claimant is put into either of the ESA main groups.

It has taken me 8 months just to get to the assessment stage. So now I have months to wait again for a decision? If I am put into any of the groups, then they will sure as hell have a lot of backdated money to give me!

It varies a lot between areas. I had my first WCA on a Monday, by Saturday I had all my back payment in my bank account, with a letter the following Monday

    Hi All
I was only commenting last night that I had not heard anything about my Assesment and guess what? I had a letter this morning so if its of any use it took exactly 4 weeks. It was my first claim after being on SSP for 28 weeks.
