The problem over the council tax is that ORIGINALLY is was meant to be a charge for local services received.
So that would mean an empty property paid no charge.....cos there was no one in it receiving local services

Now it has mysteriously changed into being a general "tax" on properties regardless of how much or little of the local services the owners use by them either living or not living in the house.
This gives the councils the excuse to put full council tax on empty properties.

I always liked the poll tax.

Paypal seems a good option thanks to the guy who recommended paypal, also a big thanks to those who kindly gave some constructive comments and valuable advice, I will also check out fees for bank transfers using a IBAN too which is maybe another option for him.

thanks again, I just don't see all answers as being constructive answers on here, they are just out there to judge, so I just chose to ignore......I mean what sort of response are they looking for, glad there are people out there setting an example for them and helping others respectfully.

yet again thanks for those who are actually giving great advice and that's what this forum is based on.

hopefully my uncle can safe a little money sending some over with some of these options.

Perhaps people were responding to _your_ original judgemental opinion on rip-off Britain. Just because the option to sell (or to rent) may not be appropriate in this case doesn't mean they aren't possible choices.

One would presume that before taking such a job he'd have investigated the potential issues and costs? I'd go for a bank transfer myself, but minimise the one off costs by transferring as large a sum as possible each time.

Be thankful you're not here in Italy that, like most European countries other than Britain, has a tax based purely on the ownership of a property and changes the tax law every 6 months or so..
