Wages from abroad

my uncle has recently acquired a new job in Malta,
he has recently been a little confused in regards to getting wages but he is wanting me to pay a few bills back here in the UK for him, what is the easiest way for him to wire money back to the UK for me to pay some bills for him?

or even to transfer into his own bank account?

does he need an IBAN number? also is he going to end up loosing money doing this by sending some over? was hoping some people can advise the best way to do this so he doesn't loose too much money, he will be leaving his house empty but he still needs to pay the council tax bill even though he is staying out of the country :( shame really, he's been unemployed for a while now, finally gets a job and now having to foot some bills over here while he is away working.

rip off Britain as usual eh? :( paying council tax for an empty property and paying his rent abroad does not work out easy for him as it's an extra bill against accommodation and it's not a high paying job.

google, or search the forum, for 'international money transfers'

where's the rip off? He could always sell his house if the council tax gets too much.

any commercial bank can do international payment transfers. The things to look out for are exchange rates (I'm assuming he's being paid in Euros) and fees for making the payment.

Is it poss to get the council tax reduced for an empty property or could he rent it out while he is in Malta ?

I don't see a rip-off anywhere in what you've told us - is there more to this situation ?

Could he not PayPal it to you? As a 'gift' then you transfer it to his bank account in time for the bills to be taken out?

Even if it wasn't a 'gift', may be cheaper to do than sending it bank to bank

So he could sell the house, then?

I have to pay property tax regardless of who lives or doesn't live in my house. What makes him special?

Why doesn't your uncle transfer XYZ amount of money into your bank account and you pay the bills from there ?

I'm not 100% but I think you can get a refund of council tax of the property
if the house is empty for more than 6 months ?

Paypal seems a good option thanks to the guy who recommended paypal, also a big thanks to those who kindly gave some constructive comments and valuable advice, I will also check out fees for bank transfers using a IBAN too which is maybe another option for him.

Euros bank transfer (choose SEPA credit transfer option) should be cheaper than Paypal. You need to know the SWIFT and the IBAN codes.
