If you have a savings account (as opposed to a current account) then nearly all of these accept BACS payments in, but they don't accept outgoing direct debits. The details you need to give are the sort code / account number and reference you would use to pay in to the account. These are the bank/building society's details, not your own, so the risk is almost nil.0
