ryanair flight missed due to airport queues

Same thing happened to me. When I got to 30 minutes I politely explained the situation to the person at the front of the queue and he let me queue jump.

Well it was for check-in AND security clearance, but 3 hours should be more than enough.
Which airport was it?0 -

So it took them nearly three hours from departing the landside area to go through security to reaching the airside area? Ryanair don't have any responsibility, but I'd certainly make complaint to the airport and see if they might be prepared to offer a goodwill gesture of some sorts.
Hi Lucy, it took 3 hours from when we got in the queue for check in (boarding pass was printed but we had a bag) to after we left security, we got through check in in time as otherwise they would have just turned us away there. Its quite unbelievable isn't it hence why I am so annoyed. EVERYONE was frustrated and upset as it just wasn't moving. :-(
I guess the best course is just to write to both and see what happens.0 -

Hi, the problem was that everyone was late due to the flights, thus the people in front of us were for flights either before us or for our time so this wasn't possible.
In the security line we saw about 3 near-fights for the same reason! I wanted to make my flight, but definately didn't want to get beaten up!0 -

See what their website state about how early you should arrive at the airport? I to would say 3 hours is plenty of time, so if you was queuing for this whole time I don't see why they shouldn't reimburse you for the second tickets! It's not like you missed it through fault of your own.0

Was there anybody else in the same situation for your flight or was it just you?0

The same thing happened to me... I politely asked people if they would please let me queue jump as I was about to miss my flight.. several did, until I encountered a horrible, snobbish, hard faced woman who said 'NO, we've all had to stand and wait!' (she was on a later flight, it transpired, so had nothing to lose by letting me through) her horribly arrogant teenage daughter then started on me saying 'you should have got here earlier, it's not our problem if you miss your flight!' etc etc - I pleaded, explaining that I had been there for hours, but had been held up, and was about to miss my flight - they point blank refused, and said it 'served me right'.
I was travelling alone, and I waited in the queue, stuck behind the horrid mother and daughter combo, and missed my flight.
I ended up in tears at one point, which is not like me at all, but it was awful to be so near to getting on the plane and miss it, and it was degrading to be spoken to like that. I was heading away for my first break in years, to visit an old friend, just for a few days and I had been so looking forward to going...
I had to waste another £150 or so to book a later flight, which was pretty dire, as I was on a very tight budget to start off with.
A lovely lady, one of the airport staff, saw I was upset, and came over and said how sorry she was I had missed my flight, and gave me a hug. She said she was having a horrid day too, and her kindness was so appreciated. I did get there in the end, and it was worth it...
I think being kind to strangers is important, and I hope the actions of the hard-faced woman and her daughter would not be the actions of most... I've let people through in the past, and wished them good luck. I was grateful to the female member of staff for being so kind, and hope that she is more representative of the human race!
However, OP, sorry for the rant, but I think it is unlikely you'll get anything back - the airlines seem to have all this stuff stitched up in their favour!0 -
I'd be surprised if anyone was on the flight if it was taking over 3 hours. Make a claim to the airport as if there are many in the same boat that is evidence in itself.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0
