ryanair flight missed due to airport queues

Hi

I hope this is the right place to post but we missing a ryan outbound flight due to queues at the airport.

We then had to repay 120 each to get on the next flight, I'm so annoyed but wanted to know my rights before writing to them and to the airport (there were queues in both check in and security)

Thanks in advance

You haven't told us whether you joined the checkin queue at or before the suggested time?

Blimey, I never knew that there were sometimes queues at airports. Learn something new every day.

How many hours were you at the airport before the time of travel? If it was within good time you might be able to see if the airport will look into a gesture of goodwill, but I personally very much doubt they'd want to create such a precedent. Or travel insurance might cover it.

It's unlikely Ryanair would offer a refund, unless they were somehow negligent.

Haha thank you for the sarcasm but we were there just under 3 hours before, it was just highly irritating as the main queue just didn't move and then we got moved to another shorter queue as our flight was imminent but because others were on flights just before us, they would get moved in front of us by staff.

The whole thing was so unorganised, and then the same thing with going through security.

This happened to several people (as we saw them all in the queue to re buy tickets) that morning. It really upset me as we missed meeting someone at our destination, it messed up our onward journey and I lost out on one day of a hire car as we'd missed the pick up time :-(

Fly BA first or business and you go around all the queues.

Have you tried fast track at T5? It is often as bad as the normal queues! ;)

This is so true, I often fly from here with my mobile boarding pass and its so fast and the fast track is always longer! :-)

Queues at check-in? Did you have hold luggage to stow?

So it took them nearly three hours from departing the landside area to go through security to reaching the airside area? Ryanair don't have any responsibility, but I'd certainly make complaint to the airport and see if they might be prepared to offer a goodwill gesture of some sorts.
