My wife has a number of shares that have been purchase and are showing a proit which will take them above the CGT threshold. Can these be transfered into a stocks and shares ISA?
Is it easy to do?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You can only transfer in from an existing ISA so no you can not do what you want.

You can do what is called 'Bed & ISA' which basically means selling and then buying back within an ISA which companies will do for you if you want.

So depending on the value you could sell up to the value of the GCT allowance and open a S&S ISA and buy them back up to your ISA limit and do the same next year if needed.

    Cheers
