Hi Pernicious - The chickens we get are usually from Co-op, & are about 1.4 to 1.5 kilos. I think it helps that we are both on a long term weight loss plan.....we've almost lost 10 stones between us over the last couple of years (hey, that means we should be using less petrol, lol...... ) This means that I do weigh out everything to make sure it falls within our calorie allowance. So for the fajhitas tonight, I do a big onion/garlic/chilli/red & yellow pepper mix with the fajhita spice, etc, but only throw in about 125g chicken for the two of us. That's because the tortilla wrap sticks another 120 or so cals onto the total & I aim to come in at around 400 to 450 cals max per main meal or I go over my daily allowance. So, while I do get a lot of meals out of a pretty standard size chicken, the dieting means I possibly do smaller portions of meat than many people would do? My partner is a big guy with a huge appetite, so psychologically, he needs his plate to look really full, even if it's bulked out with non-meat items!

Thank you, we are on a diet too but it's actually more meat than we were eating before as we are trying to cut down the amount of carbs we eat as we just don't use them up (I have a desk job!), I think we're doing alright in comparison as DH is a big eater & I can be quite bad myself
