Monday 20 May - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
:money:
Hello everyone!
I know I know.... I disappear for ages then just waltz back in starting a thread! For shame!
Cant wait to hear what everyone is up to- I hope summer is finally upon you all in the UK?
Wanted to start off the thread as I have some pretty big news casa NBTY - I've been offered a big promotion at work which means that I need to relocate to the absolute end of the world: Papua New Guinea! All sorts of exciting and scary - its not a particularly safe place to live but is meant to be incredible culturally and naturally, and the job is a huge step up career wise, and of course there will be all sorts of fantastic travel opportunities. We're still working out what OH will do - he may come or we may have to go long distance.
I have 3 more months before I leave Uganda and absolutely loads to get sorted, so todays list:
- Fruit for breakfast, lunch provided by work
- batch cook for dinner, have been majorly delinquent on this front
- call driving school (urgent as cant get around my new home on a bike
)
- make big list of tasks for the next three months
- look into renting a bigger bike for OH for the June long weekend so we can go out of town
- maybe gym in eve
- harass IT to fix the scanner so i can send my long overdue insurance claim
- check banking (eek!) and update budget
Huge hugs to everyone.

Good morning all and thanks to ntby for starting us off; you have been missed! What a fantastic opportunity for you!
I had a really busy but productive weekend so today will be taking it a bit easy at work (boss is in USA for a couple of weeks) but still with the DFW mindset.
So far today:- Breakfast from stores
- Fed and watered the chickens
- Made packed lunch for myself
- Checked banking - pretty dire and desperately need petrol for Wednesday
- Checked for surveys
- Get a lift to and from work with a colleague
- Charge iPad away from home
- Do a half hour walk at lunchtime saving the cost of a gym
- Print off recipe at work to add to the burgeoning collection
- Go to allotment after work if not too wet
- DH picking up takeaway to eat at allotment if we go
- If not, dinner from stores
- DH to dispatch poorly chicken saving £25 vet bill
- Have an NSD
Hope everyone has a good Monday!

Good Morning
Thanks to Nottobadyet for starting us off. What an exciting life you have! Good luck with all you prep for moving.
Stitchingwitch - I spend half my week running around on empty (fuel wise) will probably run out at some point but since I live in London and am normally on a well worn rat run, I never worry to much. I would never consider driving around on low petrol on the motorway or somewhere unfamiliar.
So, this is my weekend. I am at home with my son today & tommorow. Not feeling the absolute best as a) it was such a busy weekend, which was mainly spent on my feet, or running around, b) He has woken me up at around 5.30am both days, I think its the fact it gets light so early. I consider 6.30am onwards acceptable rising times but 5.30 is brutal. Consequently having dozed on and off from then till husband left for work at 7.30 a bit bluery right now.
So, the weather is so unappealing today I suspect we will end up at an indoor play centre, my idea of hell, but its important to let him run off some steam. If it doesnt start raining this morning I may be able to get away with a park trip instead, much preferable. Gosh I sound a rigfht misery this morning, I clearly need more coffee
Still no sign of my Tesco vouchers which is odd.
I have some pork out for dinner tonight, its cubed pork. What would people recommend I do with it? I dont usually cook with pork in that form so tips welcome.
My son was messing about on the computer when I came back from the kitchen, hence double post and odd wing dings!" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

1) Signing up for surveys again, I used to do loads and enjoy the vouchers, but I have not done any for months.
2) Sort through the loft for any old baby stuff to sell at the baby fair on the 8th of June, my son is 6 and I should have done this ages ago:o
3) Have a look in the freezer and use up what there is in there this week, and just buy milk, bread and fruit, going camping next week, going to try and get through this week without doing a 'proper' shop.ISA £1675MiniMoohound savings £3685.86 :T Plus £3800 CTF

Morning all.
NTBY - that sounds amazing! Well done you on the promotion
So I spent FAR too much money at the weekend! Need to go through what I spent and move it from my budget account so I can pay it off my credit card immediately
So this is me:-
- Check banking  but fine, I don't need anything til payday
- Add dates to diary for coming months that friends gave me on Saturday night
- Docs at lunch time, don't have to walk past any shops to get there
- Breakfast from stores, home made porridge pot
- Packed lunch
- Netball straight from work, saving fuel
- Continue to look for new iPhone, mine has finally been condemmed since ANOTHER dropping incident...
- Check CC as above
- See if mobile bill is in to add to budget
- Adjust and play with budget

Hi,
Not feeling too Mondayish today, which is odd. Money-saving activity today so far:
*Laundry done overnight on Economy 7 (30 deg, stingy on powder as ever)
*Remembered to charge phone on Economy 7.
*Laundry now blowing dry on line, tho v dull & chilly here today.
*Done rubber chicken. Enough for fajhitas tonight, stir-fry tomorrow, stew, soup & at least 2 packed lunches. Everything else in Slow-cooker for stock (plus another carcass I froze last week).
*Recycled more spread tubs into plant labels.
*Arranged to meet friend before her birthday which will save postage on a heavy present.
*Checked for surveys.
Still to do:
*Plant out beetroot
*Pot up basil seedlings
*Post ebay parcel, if payment arrives
*Start bucket of comfrey/nettle plant food
@ally - Yes, you're right, it is 'Go Outdoors'. And yes, we will more than make the discount card fee back on the first purchase, which is a price too good to miss.
That's it for me today.....must crack on with the beetroot before it starts raining,
