My problem is sorted now thanks to your advice. Some very forceful conversations, acknowledgement of my knowledge if the goods and services act 1982 and me continuing to demand a resolution got my wife a brand new handset.
I'm happy that the headache is finally over.0 -

Glad you have got it solved and that the advice was helpful
Would you be prepared to be helpful yourself now? Although you got yours sorted out, other MSE members might find themselves in this position, so it would be great to know if you were sold a pre-registered handset. You also would have reason to get some recompense if you had.
So would you please use the link above and check if the handset was reconditioned and let us know?
One good turn etc.....................0 -

I took the advice of people from this website. One previous forum user actually sent the links that your mobile provider are in breech of. I also went on the trading standards website and was linked through to citizens advice too. They pointed me in the direction of some template letters as I had an issue with some goods that are provided as part of a service. They were really good.
In the end I was my firm conversations with the complaints department manager where I quoted the sections of the act the company are in breech of, as well as telling them I would be forced to take legal action........ They gave us a brand new handset.
I genuinely suspect that apple are sending out some dodgy phones. But It could also be that our middle men are selling us reconditioned (badly) phones.0
