Feeling so depressed :(

Why am I feeling like this?

We had the most perfect wedding day on 26th April, went on a fantastic unexpected honeymoon to turkey, went back to work this week and have had loads of lovely comments regarding every aspect of our big day...so why am I so depressed? I have wasted this weekend doing nothing as I couldn't motivate myself, I ended up going back to bed an sleeping the day away as I couldn't face how I'm feeling :(

What can I do, how do I get over this? I've heard of post wedding blues but didn't expect to feel or e like this, I should be feeling like I'm on cloud 9 :(

Hi Caz, congratulations on getting married! I think the planning and prep can be so all consuming beforehand that it's only natural that your brain needs a bit of downtime afterwards. The only advice I have is to be kind to yourself and don't worry too much about how you feel, it will pass but dwelling on it will only prolong it. I think a lot of people only really enjoy looking back at photos and reliving the day after a little break so focus on enjoying time with your partner as you would normally rather rather than feeling that you should be doing special newlywed things. It does sound as though you had an amazing day so I hope you feel better soon.

Caz - I want a weddingday wonder badge!!!! You've made me jelous.

There was a thread on here not too long ago about this very subject, i'll see if I can hunt it out for you.

Are you designing your own photobooks? I'm hoping that will keep me occupied after the wedding, could you maybe look at that?

Do you have any big birthdays coming up? holidays? maybe it's the planning you miss?

i'll go see if I can find that thread, but feel free to keep posting here... we all love to hear wedding stories and you'll be in demand with all your tips!
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

I got married on the 27th April haven't had a honeymoon and feel the same. Totally down in the dumps. Don't want to do anything can't summon up any energy.

Hate going into work at the moment as it all seems pointless

Doesn't help my mum has just been diagonised with breast cancer and OH has gone back to Reading so have only seen him for 6 days been married 23!! As my mum is going to need help fiancially over the coming month we have had to cancel our honeymoon as she won't be able to work and has no insurance.

I guess it's just reality and coming back to normal life. I honestly don't know what to suggest to help as I'm all out of ideas myself.

    Wedding Day Wonder
    Thanks shrimps, 74jax and faith

We have already done our photo album as our photographer was a frens so we had the photos straight away!

We have nothing to plan for, i think that's more the problem, the weekend come after the first week back at work after 4 weeks off and we had nothing to do (compared to previous weeks in the run up to the big day)

So sorry to read about your recent days faith, makes my lows seem so silly when you have so much to feel low about :( (((hugs))) xx

I think it's normal to be on a downer afterwards afterall you've spent all that time planning and dreaming and now it's been and gone it seems you have nothing to look forward to, but now is the time to start dreaming about your future and things to look forward to :)

After going to a friend's handfasting recently, I've decided that I want that for our 10 year anniversary, so after the wedding I'll likely look at ideas for that. I know it's 10 years away but you can never plan too early ;)
We've also decided to go to the local halloween zombie pub crawl so I'll be getting the outfits sorted for that. Again it's stuff to keep occupied.

Your brain's been on the go for ages, and it's likely just wiped out. As shrimpy said, try not to dwell on what you feel like. Luckily the sun's coming out! Eat veg, get sunshine, get exercise - all easy ways that will help your brain get more balancing chemicals up there. *hugs*

We had handfasting and a few other quirky things in our ceremony (including jumping over a broom). We had a humanist ceremony. At the moment they are only recgonised in Scotland as a legal marriage type but for renewal should be ok
