Why am I feeling like this?

We had the most perfect wedding day on 26th April, went on a fantastic unexpected honeymoon to turkey, went back to work this week and have had loads of lovely comments regarding every aspect of our big day...so why am I so depressed? I have wasted this weekend doing nothing as I couldn't motivate myself, I ended up going back to bed an sleeping the day away as I couldn't face how I'm feeling :(

What can I do, how do I get over this? I've heard of post wedding blues but didn't expect to feel or e like this, I should be feeling like I'm on cloud 9 :(

I felt exactly the same way and 6 weeks after my wedding I am a lot better but still a bit blue! I don't have much great advice except that it will get better with time...

Oh bless you!! I get married next week and I suffer really badly with 'Anti Climax' feelings. I even get down and depressed after christmas, true!! I am fully expecting to feel how you do and unfortunately there is no advice that can make it go away. I have been told to plan something else but to be honest the way I have felt in the past planning something is that last thing I want to do. The only thing I can say, as others have, is that it does and will pass. Recognise it and just give yourself some time. It is normal to feel like you do and will get better, it might take a while but you will get there. The thing I found helpful was reading self help books on feeling 'the blues' and 'feeling down' that helped me a little. I hope you start to feel better soon!

You need a pick me up. Getting married can be exhausting. How about a weekend for two in Dublin, flying Ryanair, staying at the Arlington hotel (price guaranteed by Ryanair, to refund you the difference if you find somewhere cheaper on the net, with brunch at Whitefriars grill? Probably less than £100 return for the two of you for the flights.

I've been exactly the same since our reception, I still need to unpack and tidy away all the wedding stuff and just can't face it at the moment.

I'm afraid I've turned to retail therapy to help cheer me up... that and cooking some homemade meals from scratch! I agree finding something else to plan/distract you is the way to go!

Oh well, this weekend I'm definitely going to have a proper tidy up!

I know what you mean skoobie, our bedroom looks terrible at the mo with boxes of wedding stuff everywhere, we only in a 1 bed flat so don't really have the storage space and I can't face sorting it yet! My dress is in its bag and unfortunately can't be hung anywhere so is folded in half and on top of the boxes in the bedroom, I did unzip it last night and have a look and was reminded of how I felt on the day, it did make me cry happy tears though, until I saw how black and filthy the bottom really is :( to be expected though I suppose!

Both me and DH are looking to start a family soon, so we will have that to focus on, once my implant has been removed from my arm! Everyone keeps going on all excited about our baby although not even pregnant yet lol

I am better than I was at the weekend but mainly cos I've been at work and kept busy lol

Thanks for all your kind words :) xx

I know this thread is old but I was looking to see if any other April brides were still around and I came across it!

I felt a little bit like it although I think it really helped that we got married, went straight on honeymoon and then had our receptions so it was held over around a month. I was actually really glad to get rid of a lot of the wedding items as they were taking up so much room! I think I miss feeling *really special* than the actual day if anyone understands that? I felt amazing and I felt like I looked amazing which is so unusual for me.

I've been focussing on my new website over the past few weeks and because I know what an anti-climaxer I am, I had the foresight to book a post wedding holiday and we are off to Egypt in a few days which has given me something else to look forward to. Due to feeling 'blue' I put on a chunk of weight since the wedding so getting rid of that will be my next task! :o

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

    I'm still around :)

Feeling much better than I was! The feeling does pass thankfully!

I know what your saying about feeling special and although at times I was dreading being the centre of attention because I'm not normally I actually loved it on the day!

I still have lots if wedding relates stuff to sort but haven't had the time to do it yet!
