An easy way is to ring the hotel and ask for a bottle of champagne to be in your room

We yes, but this can cost a fortune in some hotels (£70 in a really good hotel).
    So be a bit careful.

My husband and I were in a very posh hotel and we saw a memebr of staff taking champage and chocolates to the room.
We checked the price and it was 100 euros (about £70) so we went out into the local town, bought some nice sparkling wine and some of the world best chocolate for about £15.
We enjoyed the shopping experience and supported local producers.

I'm not saying be tight and sometimes it's nice to treat yourself, but just be aware that this kind of "service" can have a huge markup at some hotels.
