I really wish the people from Northern Ireland and Scotland who complain about being excluded from promotions would learn their own local laws. Promoters quite correctly observe these local laws but then get a load of abuse from people who don't know the laws of their own country.0 -

Under N.I. law this is classed as a competition where no level of skill is required to enter. Consequently, under a Northern Irish Act passed in 1985 no purchase can be involved at any stage of the process between entering the competition and receiving the prize. Technically, even though you don't ever hand over money you have to purchase the prize (a bottle of Sprite) so it's not allowed in N.I. until a new updated act is passed in 2015, which will allow such promotions in NI. (If Coca Cola posted out bottles of Sprite for free or were to send people to Belfast to hand out bottles of Sprite for free then that would be permitted.)
In Scotland alcohol promotions are banned. This means any alcohol offers have to exclude Scotland.0 -
