Upgrading on BA using Avios

I might be heading off to Australia before Christmas, flying to Singapore in Premium Economy with BA. Can I guarantee an upgrade to Business Class using Avios, or is it pot luck?

I've just been asking the same question about a USA trip.
The answer for me is pot luck.
"Keep trying as some may become available".
I interpret this as "when we realise that there's no chance of us flogging those comfy seats at astronomical rates we'll make them available to commoners who ask the question".
Good luck. The upgrade value via Avios looks exceptional.0 -
There is current upgrade availability to SIN on 22nd, 23rd and 24th December. There is nothing before that for December, and I'd be surprised if anything became available because that is such a busy time of year.0

Don't be surprised.
Current environment suggests that availability pops up a few days before the flight date.
Keep checking every day, maybe twice daily and grab them when available. Best use of Avios by miles is the upgrade you suggest.Legal team on standby0 -

No. Just keep trying.
Often the upgrade with miles/avios availability opens up a few days before departure and then closes very quickly too as there may only be one or two seat on offer. Even if there isn't an upgrade available there's still a chance you will get a free upgrade at the airport.0
