Could very well do, yes. Because you have credit facilities, even if you do not use them.
You never answered the question whether you are a UK national / resident, btw.0 -
We don't need to offer financial products to justify our credit scores. We build scores for most major lenders. The score you can get with your credit report is just a guide though, for some of the reasons stated above. It only appraises your own credit report data.
Industry guidelines require lenders to tell you the 'principle' reason for refusing a credit application, if you ask. Always worth asking the question.

James Jones,
Answer will be you failed the credit score. Experian had a score of 965
I have a credit history, I have all positive answers to the standard questions that are scored. Said company have old data over 6 years old and use this to bypass any high score and manually score me down.
When I ask for details of the score. I'm told it's CONFIDENTIAL and they cannot go into how I am scored.0 -
James Jones,
Why do experian never come back to a thread a 2nd time to answer further questions? I've noticed it an awful lot on this forum. It doesn't help your rep in the slightest.0 -

Lack of time? People fire questions at him all the time on here, he'd have to live on this forum to respond to everyone. What will your verse be?

I am a UK resident and British citizen and my credit score was 999, 'excellent' and I checked everything which was paid 100%. So I still have no idea.
I didn't answer the question because I thought it wasn't worth pursuing. I thought I should just swallow my pride and forget about it. I have other accounts and I can find another bank!0 -

Please remember that a credit score from a Credit Agency is completely useless because nobody apart from them ever looks at it (and may be not even they do, because they have no real reason to).
The reason Santander turned you down lies elsewhere. Inconsistent address, not on ER, history with Santander (and/or their pre-decessor companies), inonsistent salry etc (ref "National Hunter" DB) - - - dozens of possible reasons.0 -
Thanks, Innovate. But I've checked those things except to say that I do have an ISA with Santander that I've never used. Could that be it? Like I'm not a worthwhile customer, despite high salary??0
-
Could it be that your address on the unused ISA is different to the address you used in your 123 application? Even a tiny difference could throw things off course. Similar with your ER address and the one used in the application.
Any amount of salary won't make a change to that. Though if you have made several applications in the last year and given salaries that differ a lot, this could also be a reason for rejection.
It's generally easy to sail through an online application at Santander or any other bank if your data is all complete and coherent.
Go into a branch and apply in person. If they decline your application again, they might give you a hint or two why.0 -
Hi again. Same address for 12 years; stable salary without variation (public sector) and online application. Is it worth going to a branch with my experian reports and a passport? And equipped with the Santander application guidelines for credit scoring and my right to be told why I've been refused? Guidance appreciated.0
