Good advice, we will remember that one :).

No problem, by the same logic (in reverse), your weekly JSA of £111.50 works out at £483.16 per calendar month, over a year. But of course, it's paid fortnightly. This is where the delicate art of managing a weekly/2-weekly/4-weekly income, and monthly outgoings, comes into effect! :)

Your gas, electric and water bills look very high to me. I live in a 3 bed detached house and my water bill is under £20 per month. Gas and electric for me is on a duel fuel arrangement and I pay £60 all in for those.

Do you need contents insurance? Have you factored in things like dentists, prescriptions, clothes, haircuts etc? Not huge expenses but they all make a bit of a hit on a tight budget.

Can you afford to put anything by each month in case of emergencies? When unexpected problems crop up that is when peoples budgets go haywire. Hope that helps :)
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

You need to check very carefully how much housing benefit you will be awarded as a couple both under the age of 35.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

£91.15, as shared rate doesn't apply to couples: http://www.warrington.gov.uk/info/200761/housing_benefit/1165/local_housing_allowance_rates_2013-14

ETA: so long as said couple are not already in, or moving into, shared accommodation, where the shared rate does apply.

You two should get jobs, rather than living off the state. Two people cannot live off £111.5 a week. I would get a secure job then move in with your partner.

The OP indicates that employment is being sought, and that they are/will be in receipt of Job Seekers' Allowance. Unless you object to the existence of a minimum safety net...? In which case, consider emigrating.

No, they should get a job first. No one can live on such a small amount of money. I shall enjoy my £32k salary...

I would check exactly what the landlords insurance will cover.
Will the contents be covered or is it just buildings insurance and then boiler insurance that the landlord covers.
A Landlord is always responsible for boiler repairs. They may choose not to have boiler insurance - that's up to them, but they will be responsible for repairs regardless.

    Wow, £20 for a 3 bed? We're £37 for a small 2 bed.

    Life insurance?
Don't think life insurance is necessary for two poor 22 yrs old with no dependents or mortgage.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Me and OH have a water meter and are very economical with water - hardly ever use our dishwasher, only use the washing machine when we have a full load and only ever shower not bath but our water rates are £28 a month to one company and £18 a month to the other company.

Have you tried shopping around for your broadband, you should be able to get it quite a bit cheaper if you're willing to take a smaller package. try plusnet
